David suggested that we find some cocktails involving whisky, so here are three ideas from someone called Wayne Collins (who seems to know quite a bit about about this) with a link below to other suggestions:
Mac Daddy
Ingredients
Method
- Place all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and stir to mix.
- Strain into a whiskey tumbler over ice, garnish with lemon zest and serve.
The highlander
Ingredients
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 35ml blended whisky
- 15ml peach liqueur
- 20ml pressed apple juice
- peach and apple wedges, to garnish
Method
- Mix the lemon juice, scotch, peach liqueur, apple juice in a mixing glass with a handful of ice.
- Strain the mixture into a highball glass and top with cream soda. Garnish with the peach and apple wedges.
Cherry smash
Slow things down, shake up a whisky cocktail and enjoy the cherry smash.

- Place the cherries, orange, lemon juice and mint leaves into a cocktail shaker and mash (muddle) with the end of a rolling pin
- Add the sugar syrup, cherry bourbon and a handful of ice and shake hard.
- Strain the cocktail into a tumbler filled with crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig and fresh cherry.
