We have several bottles of whisky cluttering up the cupboard but neither of us are all that struck on whisky itself.  The only use I have for it is with hot milk before bed when I'm feeling under the weather - it guarantees a good night's sleep and I usually wake up feeling a whole lot better.

Wayne CollinsDavid suggested that we find some cocktails involving whisky, so here are three ideas from someone called Wayne Collins (who seems to know quite a bit about about this) with a link below to other suggestions:

Mac Daddy


Ingredients

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and stir to mix.
  2. Strain into a whiskey tumbler over ice, garnish with lemon zest and serve.

The highlander



Ingredients

Method

  1. Mix the lemon juice, scotch, peach liqueur, apple juice in a mixing glass with a handful of ice.
  2. Strain the mixture into a highball glass and top with cream soda. Garnish with the peach and apple wedges.

Cherry smash

Slow things down, shake up a whisky cocktail and enjoy the cherry smash.

  1. Place the cherries, orange, lemon juice and mint leaves into a cocktail shaker and mash (muddle) with the end of a rolling pin
  2. Add the sugar syrup, cherry bourbon and a handful of ice and shake hard.
  3. Strain the cocktail into a tumbler filled with crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig and fresh cherry.
