We've just returned from a two-day jaunt to see the Blackpool Illuminations and, on the way, stopped off for refreshment at a motorway service area.

I don't usually spend much money in such places as the prices for food and drink tend to be on the high side but I always look to see if there are any good books.
This time I found a wonderful book: Gardening for Seniors by Patty Cassidy.  (Available from:  http://www.psbooks.co.uk/products/lifestyle/gardening/item/gardening-for-seniors-how-to-maintain-a-beautiful-outside-space/?gclid=CjwKEAjw-8ihBRD2t9qT3NaW7igSJAD3_sNVxNiKSKDtd6_SJ5Fdk-bUcH9Kr0C_j5s9IJpVfdc0shoCpZnw_wcB)
To quote their blurb: Many keen gardeners look forward to the time retirement will give them to indulge their passion. This comprehensive and well- illustrated guide is designed to help older gardeners plan and maintain a successful garden in as efficient and undemanding way as possible. As well as a plant directory and tips on cultivation, there is advice on health, safety and mobility, and information about equipment that can help remove the need for brute force or over- stretching.

What more can I say, except I'm looking forward to poring over this book during this autumn/winter, ready to start gardening again in the spring.

And, yes, we did enjoy our Blackpool trip: the weather stayed fine enough last evening for us to to appreciate our drive along the 1.6 mile sea front, seeing the lights, before it pouring with rain all this morning.  See: http://www.blackpool-illuminations.net/ and http://www.visitblackpool.com/illuminations/
